Our campaigns

P-8A “Poseidon”

Germany’s new maritime reconnaissance aircraft

In 2025, the Navy will receive its first P-8A “Poseidon” with special capabilities for anti-submarine warfare, surveillance, reconnaissance and search and rescue missions. Lufthansa Technik, in partnership with Boeing and ESG, forms the German P-8A industrial team responsible for delivering the “Poseidon” and guaranteeing maximum mission readiness.

PEGASUS weapon system

The German Air Force SIGINT jet

With PEGASUS, the German Air Force is acquiring a modern weapon system for airborne long-range surveillance and reconnaissance. As a key subcontractor, Lufthansa Technik is responsible for integrating the reconnaissance technology as well as the retrofitting and certification of the aircraft. The installation of the PEGASUS systems takes place at Lufthansa Technik's special mission aircraft competence center in Hamburg, in cooperation with the main contractor Hensoldt.

CH-47F “Chinook”

The Bundeswehr’s new heavy transport helicopter

The Bundeswehr is getting a new chopper: 60 CH-47F “Chinook” helicopters from Boeing will be deployed for cargo and troop transports, MedEvac and search and rescue missions. This “workhorse” has already proven its worth in numerous NATO countries. As part of the German industrial team, Lufthansa Technik aims to ensure the highest technical mission readiness of the German CH-47 fleet in the coming decades.

Special Air Mission Wing of the Bundeswehr

The world’s most modern government fleet

Three A350s, two A340s, three A321s, three A319s, three Bombardier Global 6000s and three Global 5000s form the backbone of the German Special Air Mission Wing and constitute the most modern government fleet anywhere. Lufthansa Technik has been responsible for the technical and logistical support of the Special Air Mission Wing for over 60 years, overseeing the modifications and conversions that transform civil airplanes into government aircraft.

AWACS successor

NATO’s “flying eye”

Lufthansa Technik is part of the Boeing industry team (ABILITI) that plans to develop a successor solution for NATO’s E-3 AWACS fleet as part of the AFSC (Alliance Future Surveillance and Control) project study.

A319 “Open Skies”

Airborne arms control

With the A319 “Open Skies”, Germany has the most advanced airplane for arms control. Lufthansa Technik equipped the aircraft with over 150 modifications and state-of-the-art camera technology over a period of 26 months.

A310 Multi-Role Transport Tanker

One machine, three alternatives

Between 1998 and 2001, Lufthansa Technik converted a total of four A310s into Multi-Role Transport Tankers (MRTT) for the Luftwaffe. At the time, these were NATO’s most modern all-purpose aircraft and served as flying intensive care units, air refueling stations and troop transporters.
